SiteStudio Overview
SiteStudio is an amazing tool that hasn't had enough recognition.
Users new to the web generally know they need a web presence, but they have no idea how to start. SiteStudio fixes that: it allows users to design a professional looking web site in minutes, from their normal web browser.
This site was completely designed and maintained in Site Studio, for one example of what can be accomplished with a minimum of time, tools, and education.
You can play with a demo here, and this page shows the available templates -- note that each comes with four color schemes and many have both "original" and "new" versions for added customization options.
SiteStudio allows you to play and tinker until it looks right
A very nice feature of SiteStudio is that it separates the content of your web site from its presentation. This means that you can design your site and later decide to completely redo its appearance by switching to a different layout, without losing any data or having to redo any work. The only limitation here is that sites are grouped as "business" or "personal," and you limit your site to the templates available in either group when you first set it up.
Surprisingly Useful
The site linked to above made a believer out of me. Even for someone who's been coding web sites for years and who has access to fairly high-end tools, Site Studio is impressive. It just works, from the beginning, and anyone can use it.
One Warning
Editing your site outside of Site Studio will cause Site Studio to refuse to make new changes, for fear of breaking something it doesn't understand. If you're going to use Site Studio, you need to make it your only tool for that site.
